Meet Our Doctors
Dr. John F. Flynn
Dr. Flynn has been practicing at the Frederick Veterinary Center for over 22 years.
He received his D.V.M. degree from Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Before coming to Frederick, Dr. Flynn was in rural Veterinary practice in Upstate NY (Union Springs, NY) and in the Delaware Valley area (Tranquility, NJ). His special interests inVeterinary practice include the human-animal bond and Veterinary public health issues.
Dr. Flynn lives in Frederick with his wife Barbara and their cat Pushkin. After completing college their daughters, Jessica and Meredith, now live in Brooklyn, NY and Newport, RI, respectively. His outside interests include forestry, history, agriculture, and reading. He is a big fan of Frederick!
Dr. Sharon Thomas
Dr. Thomas grew up in Howard County, Maryland and graduated from the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. Her first job was working at a mixed animal practice in Howes Cave, New York, before she moved to Vail, Colorado. In Colorado Dr. Thomas worked at a small animal practice and spent her free time enjoying the beautiful mountains that surrounded the area.
After marrying, Dr. Thomas and her husband, John, also a Maryland native, moved back to upstate New York for several years. While in New York, Dr. Thomas had a son, Erik, and decided that the natural choice would be to move back to Frederick to be closer to family.
Dr. Thomas has a high opinion of Frederick and thinks it is such a friendly place to live, with its beautiful mix of rural countryside and culture of the historic downtown area. Dr. Thomas and her family enjoy camping, hiking and biking and live in Frederick with their cat, Zoe.
